Spring Concert: There was a note sent home today with all of the details about Thursday's concert. I saw the dress rehearsal and it looks super cute!
MAP Testing: We will be taking the MAP test during the next 2 weeks. I am very anxious to see how well everyone does. The kids have all worked so hard and grown so much this year.
A.R.: The last day for A.R. points to be counted towards awards is May 13. The kids are frantically scrambling to read everything. I like to celebrate big events - one of the kids just received his 100th A.R. point. Second place has well over 50. Way to go!
Reading: Due to all the activities going on, we will take the next 2 weeks to work on our next story and the related skills that we need to learn.
comprehension: practice making inferences
grammar: work on contractions
phonic/spelling: long /a/ words
The spelling test will be next week (I hate to have a test the day after a concert)
Math: We will be working on fractions. We have actually worked on fractions all year. I think that they will enjoy this unit.
Science: We will be studying....space - a fan favorite.
P.S. - I still think that Pluto is a planet!!!!!
Midterms: Midterm grades will be mailed to you soon. Keep your eyes open for them.
Unbirthdays: Alyssa and Nykia both have birthdays after summer vacation starts.. We don't want to miss celebrating with our friends. Therefore, we will celebrate Alyssa's birthday on May 3 and Nykia's on May 5. Just a reminder, we are down to 11 students in our class.
Mother Hubbard's Cupboard: We still have many boxes of Cheez-Its. I believe that we should make it through the year now without anyone needing to send in more treats. If I am wrong, you know that I will let you know. Thanks again for all of the goodies this year.
