Well, let the chaos of Christmastime begin....and we're off!!! There is a lot going on the next two weeks. I will do my best to keep you posted.
Christmas Raffle: The Christmas raffle will be held again this year. We will be selling tickets Tuesday, Dec. 13 - Thursday, Dec. 22. The tickets are only 50 cents again this year. The tickets are entered into a drawing. The winners will be announced at school on the 21st. I have sent home a more detailed note, which includes all of the special items that are available this year.
Wet Paint: Yes, I am at it again. We will be painting Thursday afternoon from 1:30-2:30. Please don't send your child to school in their "concert clothes." (I know another day would be smarter, but I just couldn't get it to work.)
I sent home a note asking (begging) for any volunteers. Anyone, anyone? Please return the note on Monday - thanks.
Elementary Concert: Mrs. Blair is producing yet another exciting holiday affair. The kids need to be dressed-up and report to school at 5:45 on Thursday night.
Gingerbread Houses: For a special project, we will be making miniature, gingerbread houses with the 6th graders on Friday, Dec. 16. See the note that I sent home for more details and a list of things to send in for our projects.
Homework: This week we just have reading and math homework. I decided that there is just too much going on to ask all of you to practice spelling this week. Merry Christmas, no new words until next year!
Grammar: We will continue to look at compound words. They made some really cute compound word pictures. On Thursday, you can see them if you would like to. They are outside of the faculty room.
Math: We are talking about parallel lines and parallelograms (shapes with 4 sides and opposite sides are parallel). We will finish Chapter 4 and begin our next unit on place value. By the way, the kids ALL did an AMAZING job on their story problem tests - I was so proud of all of them!
