It has been a really long couple of weeks. Saying goodbye to Ms. Connie was awfully hard. I know that a few of you have asked for ideas for ways to help the family, there will be a bake sale this Sunday at the 3 on 3 tournament to benefit her family. Also, there is an account setup at the Bank of the Rockies to help the family with expenses. She will be missed greatly.
No School: Monday, April 25 there will be no school.
Reading: We will continue to work on the skills from last week. We simply need more time to get everything accomplished. There is however still a homework assignment. Please continue to have your child read it well to you and have them read it for speed. We are getting closer to our final reading fluency assessment. The kids will be asked to read as many words in a minute as they can. They are also asked to retell as much of the story as they can. It would be good practice for them to occasionally retell the readings to you.
Spelling: We will be studying words that 2nd graders should know how to spell.
Math: We will continue to determine if shapes are congruent. We will also find the area of shapes.
Science: Our rock unit continues. The kids learned a lot from our TinTina field trip. They were thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with the geologists. Thanks Mrs. Schlepp and Crew for hosting us.
Assembly: Friday, April 22 we got to listen to a presentation about saving money. Ask your child what they learned.
FYI: The Spring Concert will be on May 5th at 6 for our class. Kids need to be here by 5:45. I will send home the OFFICIAL note next week.
Thanks,
Jaime
