I hope that you all enjoyed conferences as much as I did. I always like getting to spend a little time with the parents and filling them in on how well their child is doing. All of the kids have worked hard this year and progressed so much. Thanks everyone for your support. I know that keeping up on homework and special assignments can be a real challenge. Keep up the good work.
Book Fair: You all made your children very happy. The excitement in the air surrounding the Book Fair was like the excitement that I feel around here at Christmas time! Of course, I loved the shopping as much as they did.. I spent quite a bit myself. Plus, someone made a very kind class donation too!
Picture Day: Don't forget to send in your picture form on Monday or Tuesday. Tuesday is picture day - CHEESE!
Reading: Our next story I think the kids will really enjoy. It is a fiction story called, The Bee (it is about bees).
phonics/spelling: /oo/ sound
grammar: past-tense verbs
comprehension: practice summarizing
vocab: thickens, plentiful, crowd (verb form), sealed, carefully, attack, pattern, disappear, role & diligent.
Math: We will be doing 2-digit perimeter problems. We will also be working with money, money, money!
Social Studies: The kids designed their own patriotic symbols. They had some pretty good ideas! We will be working on "what makes a good citizen" next.
A.R.: Everyone took an A.R. test today. There is a certificate in everyone's backpacks with their A.R. points listed. We participated in the Reading Coast to Coast project. The last time that I checked in, there were 3 million A.R. tests taken today nationally! WOW!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Jaime
