School Spirit: Wednesday is also our day to wear Black and Orange. Go Hornets!
We will be attending the homecoming parade on Wednesday afternoon. It is scheduled to begin at 1:00. The parade will be down Main Street.
Spelling: Our words this week all end with blends. Our test is on Friday and the homework needs to be turned in on Friday - thanks!
Grammar: We will be talking about singular and plural nouns.
Math: We will be starting our next math unit. The kids always love this one. We will learn about shapes in more detail. We will use RULERS (as tools) . We will even work our way towards finding the perimeter of shapes (cool, huh!). The homework is due on Friday- thanks.
Social Studies: We will be working on some basic map skills.
Reading: We are working on improving our fluency. We are trying to get a smooth rhythm when we read. A lot of the kids read like there is a period after every word. Reading homework is due on Friday - thanks.
Chapter Book: One of my many goals this year is to encourage your children to love reading. I have introduced them to yet another series of characters. We have only read 2 chapters of this book and they are hooked on it. We are reading The Absent Author, an A-Z Mystery. The kids want me to write to the author (and I will). The secondary character in this book is an author named Wallis Wallace! They want to know what his middle name is. I have read this book to my last 3 classes and nobody has ever asked this. I'll let you know if we find out the answer!
Thanks,
Jaime
