MAP testing: May 1, 4, 8 & 11th we will do our testing. I can't wait to see everyone's progress.
May 3rd: Ask your child if they offered to send in props for a counseling skit, if so they need turned in on this date.
May 11th: Elementary Concert at 6:00.
May 12th: Mom's, save the date, our class will be inviting you in from 1:45-2:30 (I just wanted to give you a heads-up in case you need to make special arrangements to join us).
May 12th: The last day to take an A.R. test.
May 17th: Egg drop (weather permitting), academic awards, and track & field day!
*Please note that this year our awards will be primarily based on our A.R. results. We will let you know in advance which students will be receiving them - thanks.
May 23rd: We will be going to Helena with the 6th graders for our field trip. We will start our day at Exploration Works and finish it with 2 games of bowling.
*More specific information about all of these exciting events will be sent home at later dates. Keep your eyes open for the field trip permission slips - they will be coming soon.
Unbirthdays: We certainly don't want to miss anyone's birthday. There are several students with summer birthdays. I have assigned them each an Unbirthday. We will celebrate their birthday and you are free to send in a treat if you wish to do so (18 students hope that you do).

Reading: We are continuing with the stories that we have been working on. Both groups are discussing the genre and the mood of the stories. Both groups are practicing using dictionaries and other reference books. We are practicing identifying the point of view and the author's purpose for writing the story. Additionally, we are practicing our fluency. Homework due Friday!
Grammar: We will continue to review synonyms, antonyms, adverbs, adjectives and possessive nouns.
Spelling: We will practice spelling words with ai, ay, igh & y. Test Friday.
Math: We will look at the characteristics of three-dimensional shapes - fun! Homework due Friday!
