Field day was so much fun. The kids loved it and they loved having so many of you join them for the festivities. The concert was great, too (I loved the song for the teachers). This week sure has been filled with fun, memorable activities.
This is my final newsletter for the 2014-2015 school year. I want to take a moment and thank all of you. This year has been wonderful. The kids have worked so hard and are all such special people. I will miss them in my classroom everyday. I have also enjoyed getting to know all of you. Thanks everyone for all of the support this year.
Early Release: The kids get out of school at 1:00 on Friday (their last day as a 2nd grader).
Class Project: We got all of the books that we ordered with our $250! We ended up getting about 76 books. The kids helped to select the books. Junie B. was of course in the mix, as well as the A-Z mysteries. We also got a few Katie Lynn books. Ask your children about the other books that will be available to borrow from or school library next year. In addition to the books, all the kids got a t-shirt. I think that everyone should wear them again on the last day of school! Thanks Mrs. Hamlen for helping us to carry out such an amazing project. (More details may even make the local paper.)
Choose Your Own Adventure Stories: We are almost done with them. The kids are desperately trying to get them typed up with the 6th graders assisting.
Summer Reading: There was a note sent home yesterday about it. It is a great program, I hope that a lot of you chose to do it.
Preschool: Ms Jane brought her class over on Wednesday (and she brought us a treat, too). The kids did a really nice job reading to the younger kids.
I scream, you scream: Mr. Fisher brought ICE CREAM for us today. It was delicious! Thanks, Mr. Fisher!
Local Heroes, Your hardworking Pollinators: Mariana won the contest sponsored by the Meagher County Conservation District. Way to go Mariana! My whole class perticipated so we were awarded coupons for a free F'real milkshake at the WSS Town Pump. The coupons are attached to the newsletter. Make sure that you use yours. They are mighty yummy shakes.
Field Trip: Don't forget to dress for hiking on Wednesday, May 27. We will head to Bozeman at 8:45 and be back for dismissal at 3:30.
I ordered school lunches for Evan, Wyatt, Mariana, Tristan, Kellen, Trevor & Makenzie. If anyone else wants a packed lunch let me know immediately on Tuesday morning - thanks. NO electronic devices - thanks.
Australia: Mrs. Schlepp will be coming in on Tuesday to do a little presentation on Australia. Thanks Mrs. Schlepp!
Phone Books: If you have any unwanted phone books, make sure to turn them in. There is a garbage can at the entry of our school for them. It is marked, "PHONE BOOKS." The 6th graders collect them.
Funny story: One final giggle....
The kids were working on a project and started to get a little too loud. I told them that they had 3 minutes left to finish up. It felt like nobody was listening. I said, "show me on your fingers how much time you have left." I expected maybe a few students to hold up the correct number of fingers. Boy, was I surprised, everyone instantly put 3 fingers in the air. They really are good at multitasking!!!
Just one S'more thing: I highly recommend trying some fun S'more creations this summer. We love to use Sam's Chocolate Caramel Cookie thins instead of graham crackers and chocolate when making S'mores. They are easier to use and taste delicious with that toasted marshmallow. Sometimes we use the graham crackers and the marshmallows but use Peppermint patties or Reese's peanut butter cups for the chocolate part. They are rather tasty, too!
Thanks again everyone. Have a wonderful summer!
