Wow, this week really went by quickly.  I can't believe the beautiful weather that we had.  Speaking of beautiful, I think that a lot of the kids are going to have really cute school pictures!

Map Testing:  We are scheduled to start our testing on Thursday and Friday morning.,

Box Tops:  Feel free to send these in whenever you get sick of looking at them.  I have a big container that we would love to fill with them.

Class Size:  We have 12 children in our classroom.

A.R.:  Everyone has recently been assigned their new reading color(s).  Everyone has moved their frogs off of the big bulletin board and onto a lily pad.  I am very proud of all of the kids.

Chapter Book:  We are now reading Junie B. Jones has a Monster under her Bed.  I selected it because the first part is about Junie B.'s picture day!

Science:  We will start our plant unit!

Math:  We will continue to look at partners and totals.  We will also focus on the "Make a Ten" strategy.

Reading:  We are going to read a play ("Neighborhood News)!  If all goes well, Mrs. Brewer's class will watch our play on Thursday afternoon.  We would love to borrow 3-4 play microphones from anyone who feels like sharing with us for the week.

High Frequency Words:  already, eight, everything, finally, guess, hundred, prove, sometimes, special and through (yep, review words)

Vocab:  Review week

Grammar:  Review types of sentences and parts of sentences

Fluency:  We are going to really try to read our play parts at a good rate and with appropriate expression.

Spelling:  This is also a review list.  The test will still be on Friday.  The homework is due on Friday as well.

New Homework:  I have sent home a small reading selection that you need to read a minimum of 3 times together this week.  I will be doing this regularly now.  I also sent home some extension activities  for those of you who seek extra challenges.

Thanks,
Jaime
