Reading: The three reading groups will continue with and wrap up the stories that they have been working on. In case you were wondering, the final group name is........Star Wars Master Builders!
Spelling: We will take our test on Monday!
Homework: All homework assignments were carried over from last week and are due on Monday the 17. No new homework (I can hear you cheering from here)!
Grammar: We will review the 4 types of sentences and continue to discuss proper nouns (nouns with good manners - just kidding). The kids are learning that proper nouns need capital letters because they are naming special people, places, things and animals.
Social Studies: We will continue to work on learning that people are citizens of cities, states and countries.
Nursing Home: We are currently scheduled to visit the nursing home on Tuesday afternoon.
Early Release: Wed. we are dismissed at 12:30.
No School: There will be no school on Thursday and Friday.
Book Orders: Due on Wed. the 19th. Anyone who orders and spends $10 or more may pick out ONE free book that is worth up to $5. Please write "FREE" next to the one that you select. I found a coupon - I love coupons (Not to brag but....I just got a box of 80 Glad, garbage bags for $5.50 instead of $14. I love bargains!!!!).
Vocab Highlight of the week: The word was habitat. When asked if anyone knew what a habitat was, one of the girls told me "It is like when you get a bad itch and you get in the habitat of scratching it all of the time." I truly love working with your kids!
Thinking Ahead: Friday the 28th at 1:00 will be our Halloween parade through town. I will remind you later. Anyone wishing to send in goodies for Halloween may do so at anytime (we have 18 kids, plus one teacher with a sweet tooth). The day of the parade is not a good day for treats (something you rarely hear me say). We will have recess, then the parade and then head home. The 31st works beautifully for treats, too.
Thanks,
Jaime
