It was great to see so many of you at Open House. If you were unable to come, please stop in on another day and let your child give you the grand tour of our school.
Early Release: The kids get out at 2:35 on Thursday.
No School: There is no school on Friday.
Picture Day: I sent home the forms today. Picture Day is on the 22nd.
Extra Clothes: I highly encourage everyone to send in a big baggie with a complete change of clothes inside of it. You would be amazed how many kids get wet/dirty on the playground and need new clothes. It will save you an unplanned trip into school if they have socks, underwear, pants and a shirt already here to change into.
My Blog: If you misplace my newsletter, all the info is available on our school website!
Spelling: Our test will be on Thursday and the homework will be due then, too.
Reading: Our story this weeek will be Henry and Mudge.
phonics - We will look at the CVCe patteern. We are focusing on long vowels and silent e.
high frequency words - These are the words that your child needs to memorize. They are children, different, ears, finally, hundred & short (like me!).
comprehension skills - We will look at the main idea of stories and the supporting details. We will also work on summarizing.
vocab words - Our words will be blockades, soaked, misplaced
& principles.
grammar - We will continue to discuss questions and statements, as
well as what type of punctuation they require. We will
also discuss commands and exclamations (and their
punctuation.
homework - read the story 3 times and return it on Thursday.
Chapter Book: We are almost done with another Katie Lynn book.
Ask your child about Frog Legs for Dinner.
A.R. - Please encourage your child to read books at home and take an A.R. test on them at school. Please write doen the exact title and the author so that we can try to find them on-line (or just send in the book).
Social Studies: We are still studying communities.
Science: We learned some great frog facts last week!
Printing: Please notice that your child is graded weekly on their printing. Look at the bottom of their spelling test for the grade that they have earned.
