We had so much fun with the "Neighborhood News" play. The kids really worked hard on putting on a great show for our first grade audience. I promise to invite all of you to a play in the future. We just needed to get one or two under our belts first!
Field Trip: The kids were thrilled with their first trip to the nursing home. They especially liked the pictures that one of the gentlemen made for each of them. I know that a few of the kids plan to take a picture to give to him next time.
Math: We will continue to practice finding the missing partner and the missing total.
Science: We will be looking at what plants need to survive and the parts of a plant. Ask your child what plants need to survive (air, water, food, space and sunlight).
Reading: We are reading an autobiography by Mia Hamm titled, Mia Hamm Winners Never Quit!
comprehension skills: making predictions
grammar: recognizing nouns (people, places, things & animals)
high freq. words: brother, caught, cheer, learn, lose & straight
vocab: technique, specially, struggle, traction, agile, spectator, competitive & worthwhile
Spelling: Our words are long /i/ words spelled with ie or igh. The test will be on Friday. The spelling and reading homework are both due on Friday, too.
Thanks everyone for getting your homework assignments completed and turned in every week!
