Cafeteria: We are back in action. Hurray! A special thanks to Kellen and Beretta for bringing in drink boxes to share with us. When we don't have a milk break, the kids think that we are in crisis
Book Order: We had a kind "book fairy" who anonymously bought
each student a book. They were thrilled with their new books.
Red Ribbon Week:
Mon. - get your ribbon at school
Tues. - wear your favorite team jersey
Wed. - wear boots
Thurs. - you may wear a hat ONLY if you wear your ribbon, too
Fri. - wear orange and black and your costume after lunch
Halloween Festivities: We will change into our costumes after recess (no weapons). We will head to the high school at 1 and then walk around downtown. Then we will have our treat. I sent home a note asking for some party supplies. In terms of treats, anyone wishing to send in a treat may do so - thanks!
Science: The plant unit continues. Ask your child about viewing different parts of a plant under a microscope! We talked about different ways that plants are sorted into groups. We acted like scientists and sorted our specimens (our gym shoes!) into groups. The kids came up with some great ways to sort them (including by smell - PU).
Spelling: The -ar test is on Friday when the homework is due.
Math: We are starting unit 2 about Measurement and Shapes! We will be using our rulers to measure in centimeters.
Reading: Our next story is The Great Ball Game
phonics - /ar/
comprehension: we will discuss the plot
high freq. words: accept, ago, clear, fair, half & though (we have been using our Glossary to look up these words)
vocab: clutched, clambered, clumsy, ached, feud, superior, refuse, and insult (verb)
homework: due Friday
Volunteers: On Wednesday, October 29 at 1:30 I would love to have 3 people volunteer to come in and help for about an hour (or so). I thought that it would be fun to set-up 3 art stations. We will be painting at each area. Anyone crazy enough to be interested in painting with 2nd graders? Let me know. If I get more than 3 volunteers, I will throw names into a hat to pick (honestly). Please respond as soon as possible.
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR KIDS DON'T WEAR THEIR BEST CLOTHES ON WEDNESDAY!!!!
