Book Orders: Please notice the coupon for 1 free book if you spend $10 (I love coupons). The orders are due on Wednesday - thanks.
Reading Homework: The reading homework is due on Wednesday also. Wow, what a difference your practice at home makes. Just imagine how great everyone will be reading by May.
Spelling Homework: No spelling homework this week! You have all earned a break. We will practice our old lists this week. Ask the kids about some of our spelling review games (Sparkle, Spelling Relay and Spelling Hopscotch).
A.R.: Many of the kids are reading A.R. at home and at school. There are still a few students that I would love to see show more of an interest in participating in the A.R. program. Again, the kids can test before school starts if I am in the room. They can also test after they complete their morning independent work.
Our frogs have covered a wide range of lily pads. We have some hanging out on the #2, a lot can be seen somewhere near the #10 and one has even made it past the #60 (I toad you that we are on the move)!
A few parents have stopped in the morning before school starts to watch their children test. This is a great way to get a feel for the program. You will see that the questions are very specific.
Science: Ask your child about our cool celery experiment.
Social Studies: We will talk about Columbus. Ask them what new facts they learned about him and his voyage.
Show and Tell: The boys may bring a fall item to share on Tuesday. The girls may do the same on Wednesday.
Math: We will be focusing on the =, <, and > signs. Remember, the alligator always eats the greater # (I seriously remember this from first grade).
Reading: We will continue to work on the goals from last week.
Enjoy your short week.
