Thanks everyone for attending conferences the other night.  I really enjoyed hanging out with all of you.  Also, thanks for your patience.  I know that several of you had to wait a little bit for your turn.  The kids were so excited when I shared your "turkey feathers" with them.  I actually had a parent from last year come down and leave me a note on one of our feathers - it was one of the highlights of my evening.  Another gesture that really touched me was when the one family offered to skip their conference so that I could eat some dinner.  I of course chose them over pizza (now chocolate would be another matter!!!).

A.R.: Back by popular demand....the A.R. website:  https://hosted258.renlearn.com/170380.  Please do the vocab test too when it is an option.

Picture Retakes:  If you need your child to get another school picture please return their original package on Tuesday, November 8.

Election Day:  Mr. Williams and I are organizing a mock election for the kids.  They will get to vote on Tuesday like the grown-ups!  Please wear red, white and blue on Tuesday.

Social Studies:  We are discussing how leaders are selected and what types of traits a good leader should have.  We are not diving into our political beliefs.  We are dealing with current events on an elementary level.

Math:  We will be working on story problems. We will use the terms more, most, fewer and fewest.  We will use a Venn diagram to represent information.  Homework is due on Friday.

Spelling:  We are going to practice writing contractions this week. The test is on Friday.  The homework is due then also.

Grammar:  We will learn about verbs, action words.

sight words - a-okay, poem, nothing, favorite and truly
* Homework- they will continue to receive homework from me on Fridays.  They will  probably get nightly homework from Mrs. Stephens, too.

sight words - should, want, his, the, could, was, a would, is & has

Veteran's Day:  Mrs. Blair has continually outdone herself with the musical productions that she has the children perform in every year. Our first one will be on Friday, Nov.  11 at our high school gym. The second graders will be performing several patriotic  songs and are encouraged to dress-up for the show.  Mrs. Blair also told me that the show is open to the public, so I hope that many of you are able to attend (10:00, I believe).  She will be sending home a detailed note to all of you.

Coloring Contest:  Congrats to Natalie for winning the October coloring contest at the hospital!

Thanks,
Jaime

Hello Everybody!  My name is Mrs. Williams (Jaime to all of you grown-ups).  If you know Mr. Williams (Clint), then you know my husband.  Noah, our son, is in fourth grade.  Talon (aka T) is in second with me!

This is my fourth year at WSS.  Prior to teaching here,  I taught kindergarten for 5 years and first grade for 3 years in Pennsylvania.  I also taught second grade for a year in Idaho.
