May 15: Eggs are due for the egg drop. I am still looking for volunteers to help judge eggs around lunchtime, probably.
May 17: Weather permitting, the Egg Drop will be held at the track at 8:30.
May 17: Our awards ceremony will be held in the elementary gym at 10:00
May 17: We will hold our track and field events at 12:45. Please don't forget the sunscreen.
Hornet Shirts: We had some very generous donors gift us Hornet shirts to wear to track and field day and again on our field trip. K-6th grade all have shirts. Each class is represented with a special color. We are raspberry!
Please do not let your child wear their cool shirt home after field day. I need to collect them before they head home. We will get to keep them after our field trip. The kids can't wait to wear them.
Spelling: We will be working on a list of words that they should leave 2nd grade knowing how to spell: saw, who, what, where, when, how, why, nice, read & friend.
Reading: No homework for Spy Kids and Thundermans
Spy Kids: We are going to start reading Weather Tales. We are going to focus on the vocabulary words fact and fiction. We will work on identifying facts and fictional information. For phonics, we will work on reading words with ou and ow sounds.
Thundermans: We are still working on ants. However, we are switching from nonfiction to fiction mid week. The kids (and I) have learned an awful lot about ants. We are really working hard on fluency. I will be sending home a packet soon with reading passages for the summer. I hope that all of you will pull it out occasionally and help your child work on continuing to improve their fluency rates.
Math: No Homework.
We will continue our measurement unit.
Thanks everyone! Happy Mother's Day!
