Have A Ball: Those of you who signed up for indoor soccer get to start playing this weekend! The schedules were sent home last week.
Cursive: We have started learning how to write the letters of the alphabet in cursive. We are all so excited!
A.R. : Last Friday we all took at least one A.R. test. Kids across the U.S. were doing A.R. all day long. The website kept track of all of the kids who passed an A.R. test on Friday and over 3 million tests were passed across our nation! AMAZING!
* Your child received a Read Quest certificate (A.R.) that reflects their A.R. points from Friday, March 3.
Yum: Claire shared Katie Lynn's infamous chocolate bread with all of us. It was super yummy - THANKS!
Science: We will start talking about environments, habitats, and living and nonliving things this week in science. Some vocabulary words that the kids will be encountering are environment, habitat, stream, woodland, resource, and drought.
Math: We will be continuing our work with graphs, specifically, completing tables and making predictions using graphs. After the Unit 7 test (Wednesday), we will move on to Unit 8 and start working with quadrilaterals. The unit kicks off by having students name quadrilaterals, draw diagonals and find and connect midpoints.
Spelling: For spelling this week, we will be working with words ending in -ful and -ly. We will also add a new section to the test. From now on, the students will have to correctly write, 2 dictated sentences as part of their grade. Each sentence is worth 5 points.
1 point for proper capitalization
1 point for proper punctuation
1 point for proper spacing
1 point for spelling all the words correctly
1 point for including all of the dictated words
Grammar: We will be learning about and working with irregular verbs this week in grammar.
Reading: Homework due Friday.
Thundermans: We are getting ready to start some new stuff! I am so excited, They will be tackling even grander materials than they have been- watch out 3rd grade, here we come!
We will be introduced to a new character, Miss Tam. She will appear throughout our future reading selections. We will be focusing on identifying the main idea of a selection. Our vocab words are bittersweet, habit, and hesitate. We will also practice identifying the plot of the story.
Spy Kids: We will continue to work on the skills that I outlined last week. We ended up using this week to wrap-up some old work.
